Theory about Linus – Stardew Valley

I don’t know if this has been talked about before but… There’s three small things in the game that got me thinking. First, the one heart event with Linus when he looks into the garbage bins and Gus comes out, giving him food. He’s not mad at Linus, as if they know each other. Another part that piqued my interest is the beach luau, where you can see Linus working on the roast. Last but not least, he also gives you a sashimi recipe when you become better friends.

In real life, decent sashimi is very difficult to make due to getting the cut right. Sushi chefs need years to learn how to properly cut fish.

My conclusion from all this?

Linus used to be a chef, perhaps even a renowed one. But he got tired of the fame and/or the hectic life, and decided to tone it down and come live life in Pelican Town. Gus used to be someone he studied with, or worked with, and some others in the town know at least that Linus knows his way around food, therefore they let him work the roast at the Luau.
