Warframe

Ash Build – Warframe

This is just a quick guide to show you how to play Ash properly and not spam 4 all the time.

Ash

Ash is a fast, maneuverable Warframe that possesses a high rate of survivability in the field. Fleet movement complements lethal tools of assassination, making Ash a testament to why people once feared the mere mention of ninja in the night.

How not to play Ash

I’d say more than half of the game I enter with a Ash in it, they always seem to just spam 4, all the time… Yes sure this can take care of a lot of enemies in the area but it can get annoying as the ash cannot cancel this ultimate, so if your downed there’s a good chance he won’t be able to revive you in time.

Now let’s just talk about how you should play Ash, first let’s see his abilities:
|
V

Shuriken

Shuriken

Launches a spinning blade of pain, dealing high damage and impaling enemies to walls. Strength:100 / 250 / 350 / 500 (damage)
Range: 60 m
Cost: 25 Energy

This is a fairly good power now since it got buffed in damage, it has a 100% chance to proc slash so it could be useful to take out those lighter units or take out a shield drone, that’s if you can aim with it.

Smoke Screen

Smoke Screen

Drops a smoke bomb that stuns enemies and obscures their vision, rendering Ash invisible for a short time.
Duration: 2 / 4 / 6 / 8 s
Range: 10 m

This is one of ash’s must need abilities and you’re gonna want to be using this a lot, many people don’t understand how smoke screen works because it seems to work differently from Loki’s invis, if an enemy has you in line of sight and is close enough, they will continue to fire after you have cloaked so try to get behind cover before or after casting it.

This is also a great way to safely revive teammates without harm coming to you.

Teleport

Teleport

Ash teleports towards the target, bringing him into melee range and enemies vulnerable to finishers.
Range: 20 / 45 / 45 / 60m

Yet another really useful power for ash, not only could this be used to get into a pile of enemies and melee them all to death but it can be used to teleport to pretty much anything with a health bar so you could easily teleport across the map to a fallen teammate and revive them before your other teammates even have a chance to get half way to him or you can even teleport to a pod just to get back to the objective quickly.

Blade Storm

Blade Storm

Ash goes on a rampage, teleporting to and destroying nearby enemies.
Strength:750 / 1000 / 1500 / 2000
9 / 11 / 13 / 18 targets
Range: 50 m (cast range)
15 / 20 / 22 / 25 m (attack radius)

Ash’s ultimate is one of the strongest ultimate’s in the game but unlike other warframe powers the is a limit to how many enemies is affected by his.

This is one of the reasons not many people like others playing Ash simply because many just use this power and no others, personally I use this only when it’s needed, I don’t go counting but when there seems to be more than 18 targets I will use this. It’s also good to use after reviving a teammate, to clear the area around them after they get up. Just don’t press 4 for every pair of enemies you see as that could become a waste of energy and then when you really need it you won’t have enough energy and you’ll get downed, and most Ash’s I’ve come across that have gotten downed they were spamming 4.

Now let’s move onto the build I use:

The Build

Note you do not ‘need’ 2 forma, I just have 2 forma because I don’t use Steel Charge, with it only 1 forma is needed. It really doesn’t matter if you choose a D or a – both will work fine.

Ok so first the polarity any V aura will do, If wanted a extra forma could be added to change this.

The 2 forma I added were a D and a – on the far right.

First for damage mods, I used Intensify and the new corrupt mod Transient Fortitude (1 from the top)

Now to boost our duration up a bit, add Continuity and Constitution. With the Transient Fortitude duration loss you will get an extra 33% to duration which will boost you up to 10secs.

For Range at the Stretch mod, this will allow you to cover a really large distance on your teleport and increase radius on blade storm and more range for shuriken.

For the last few mods they’re Vitality and Redirection, this will hit you up to 720 shields and a large 1110 HP.

For the last mod it is Streamline so you can cast those abilities more often, I didn’t use Fleeting Expertise because of the duration loss, but streamline alone is just fine.

Rage Build:

For a second build, using the Rage mod replace Redirection to lower your shields to 300, when your HP is damaged you will gain energy which will allow to spam cast Smoke Screen or your Teleport to survive even longer.

If you have decided to go with 2 forma, you will even be able to add any Aura you want without losing any needed mod cap points.

Smoke Shadow Build

With the addition of the ‘Smoke Shadow’ Augment mod, ash can now cloak teammates.

This build will be more focused towards duration but still keeping that high range.

Before we talk further, I should say that no range mods affect the range of smoke shadow, not sure if this is bug or if its the way the mod works so keep that in mind before casting it.

The mod can be obtained by reaching the maximum rank in either the ‘Red Veil’ or ‘Arbiters of Hexis’ Syndicates and then it will cost another 25,000 Standing to buy.

The mod will cloak all teammates within a 5m radius for the same duration of your own Smoke Screen and all cloaked teammates will gain the 400% melee damage multiplier.

Let’s move onto the build:

First off, we only have 1 damage mod; intensify we don’t want any others because Transient Fortitude will lower duration and Blind Rage will require to add Fleeting Expertise which will also result in duration loss.

Now for the duration mods, we’re using Constitution and Continuity but no Narrow Minded because it will damage our range which we still want so we can get around to teammates and objectives quickly.

Gonna be using Streamline so our powers cost a little less, and Rage so any damage taken converts to energy which will allow us to use powers if we are getting damaged with low energy.

Of course, you will need Smoke Shadow.

You will also need some form of survivability so add Vitality for lots more HP.

You can also add any Aura if you did follow the forma I have added, if not then you may have to stick with a V polarity Aura.

End

In my opinion Ash is a great frame if you can play him well and many others think so as well but maybe not for the same reason, many just think he’s good because of the damage blade storm does but I feel all of his powers have some good use.
