Money Cheat – Stardew Valley

If you need extra cash you can buy a chicken and name it “[417]”, that’s the item code for a sweet gem berry. They sell for 3000g. Keep selling and buying chickens, naming them this and you will get rich. Just remember that cheating takes away your sense of accomplishment.

Edit: [166] and [163] are legend fish and treasure chest worth 5k each.

Edit 2: Talking to gus repeatedly in the bar is a million times faster than buying and selling chickens. If you name your chatacter “example[166][163]” every time someone says your name you get the expensive items, and gus can be prompted to say it repeatedly.

How to get unlimited money?

Infinite Money Mod

Taking too long to earn money? This is the fastest way to get free money in the game.

Steps:

1. Exit Stardew Valley if it’s running.
2. Open an explorer window and go to your user folder. It contains your Stardew Valley save games. It will be in a location similar to this:
   C:\Users\USER\AppData\Roaming\StardewValley\Saves\User_123456789
   (Note: You may have to show hidden files/folders before you can see the AppData folder. To do this, click the view tab in explorer window and enable hidden files.)
   PLEASE MAKE A BACKUP COPY OF THIS FOLDER TO SEVERAL LOCATIONS IN CASE YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH YOUR MODIFICATION. THIS WAY YOU CAN REVERT BACK TO YOUR ORIGINAL GAME FILE. THANKS! =D
3. Locate the file with your username and numbers after it. Right-click the file and select ‘Open with’, use notepad (or Notepad++ if you have it).
4. Press Ctrl+F to bring up the search dialog box, type “money” (without quotations) in the search box and press Enter. You should see something like this: <money>2595</money> The number in the middle is your current amount of money in game.
5. Change the numbers in between the money brackets to your desired amount and save the file.
6. Launch the game and you will have that much money in the game.

Disclaimer: This is not for hardcore gamers, or those who have no life, job, or family. I posted this for those who just want a little boost to get going in the game. For those who don’t have time for the grind, this is perfect for you since you can’t actually give yourself items, but can increase the count of money in game. If you don’t want to modify your game, DON’T! No one is forcing you to do this. I mean absolutely no disrespect to ConcernedApe. He has done a beautiful job and it is definitely an amazing game.

As a sidenote. I have not noticed any negative side effects in game for adding up to 1,000,000 in game money. Thanks and Happy Farming to ALL!
